From temple F, possibly dedicated to Dionysus, the lower parts of the two surviving metopes are exhibited with scenes of the battle between gods and giants, a theme symbolizing the supremacy of order against chaos and brutality. Particularly noteworthy is the helmeted head of the dying giant
contracted in an expression full of pathos, one of the highest creations of Selinuntine sculpture from the early decades of the 5th century BC.
