The funerary niche of the monumental tombs is a remarkable testimony of the cultural and religious syncretism that characterized the population of ancient Lilybaeum (Marsala). The main recurring depiction on the background is a scene of a funerary banquet. It shows the deceased semi-reclined on the bed, offering an amphora to a seated woman. Carvings, mirrors, percussion musical instruments, household objects, servants, garlands and wreaths of flowers and fruits, including the pomegranate that alludes to the cult of the afterlife, complete the scene. Numerous symbols related to the Punic religion, among which the sign of Tanit (the most widely venerated deity). Finally, the inscriptions in Greek characters indicate the Latin name of the deceased, accompanied by the ritual formula "brave hero".
