The image of the fisherwoman swimming vertically towards the bottom is not only relevant for its composition, but also for the ability, theorized by Maraini in one of his writings from 1950, to represent the landscape in which: "We are in subtly unreal, dreamlike places; among cliffs covered with algae that escape towards the blue of the seabed, [...]; we brush against dark crevices pregnant with primordial fears. We are very far from the world of the sky, mountains, and sun. Down here, the territories of perhaps and I don't know extend."
