Located on the lakeside of Lugano in the historic Villa Malpensata, MUSEC offers a rich program of exhibitions and events dedicated to ethnic and oriental arts, children's creativity, modern and contemporary art.

The Maraini Space is entirely dedicated to historical and contemporary photography. On the ground floor and first floor, the Exhibition Space hosts major exhibitions. On the second floor, the Sky Space allows you to discover new collections and the work of contemporary artists. Additionally, the Treasure Space, highlighting the permanent collections, is accessible free of charge.

MUSEC was born thanks to the donation of masterpieces of South Seas art, collected by the Swiss artist Serge Brignoni (1903-2002) throughout his life. Over the years, numerous other prestigious collections have been added, including one of the most important collections worldwide of hand-painted late 19th-century Japanese photographs.
