PORTRAIT OF A GIRL WITH A RED SKIRT, around 1786 Attributed to Antonio Carnicero (1748-1814), Spanish school. At the end of the 18th century, Spain experienced a passion for popular costume. Although French fashion is followed with some reluctance, national peculiarities add an original touch. Spanish women wear shorter, simpler, brightly colored dresses adorned with fans, shawls and carnations.
