This dish belongs to the very rich assortment called “a villages and enamel figures”, a masterpiece of the Milanese manufacture, founded by the “capitalist” Felice Clerici in 1745 in Milan. The grotesque character of this amusing caricature resembles that used by Leone Ghezzi in portraying the figures of the Saxon or papal court in famous engravings, from which perhaps the Milanese painter was inspired.
