Giovanni Gentiletti House Museum

Giovanni Gentili House Museum

The Giovanni Gentiletti House-Museum in Santa Maria Dell'Arzilla is part of the Pesaro Museums circuit and every third Sunday of the month visitors will be able to discover the forge-studio of the Pesaro sculptor (Candelara 1947– Pesaro 2010).

With its sketches, tools and films on 40 years of artistic research (1969-2009), the House-museum has become a place for narration through six exhibition rooms: on the ground floor, Surfaces, Fragments and Triptychs, on the first floor, Zoomorphic forms, herons and calendars.

At the beginning of his artistic production, Gentiletti's laboratory is a visionary zoo, it is not known whether archaeological or futuristic: first scarabs and swallows in flight, then herons with very long beaks with legs and nails like daggers and round eyes of prey, then zoomorphic shapes with great wings locked on solid bodies prisoners of a mysterious form. Finally the mutation: the material becomes the protagonist, erasing the zoomorphic fantasy and on the copper plates appear first figurative elements then strange alphabets, guardians of ancient memories. Heavy metal worker and skilled chiseller Gentiletti opens up to contemporary research, in particular to the world of the Informal, and every inspiration from nature is transformed into dreamlike suggestion. Giovanni Gentiletti follows his artistic studies, graduating from the F. Mengaroni State Institute of Art, teaches embossing and chisel in the Art of Metals and Goldsmithing section first in Ancona and then in Pesaro. From 1990 to 2008 he was part of the teaching group at the courses of the TAM Center (Artistic Treatment of Metals) in Pietrarubbia, conceived and directed for a few years by Arnaldo Pomodoro. He exhibited in numerous exhibitions in Italy, won sculpture and goldsmith art prizes and many of his creations are purchased by prestigious public institutions. In 2006 the work "Nel vento del mito" was installed in the roundabout in via A. Cecchi, at the port of Pesaro; two large copper "sails" to commemorate Azzurra, the first and only Italian boat to compete in the America's Cup in Newport in 1983 and built in the Yacht Officine shipyard in Pesaro. 'Alexander Museum Palace Hotel, with an altar-chest and a copper and iron door, as part of the project an "author's room". In 2010 the Cassa di Risparmio di Pesaro Foundation purchased the “Altarolo-coffer of the ancient alphabet” for its collection.
