The Pescheria Visual Arts Center was founded in 1996 in the premises of the old fish market (the building dates back to 1821-'23). In twenty years of activity it has promoted exhibitions dedicated to the protagonists of the national and international scene to become the most important pole for contemporary art in the Adriatic region. The museum was originally housed in the loggia of the old fish market in the city, a building from 1824 in neoclassical style, and in 2001 it was expanded into the adjoining space of the Chiesa del Suffragio. .
