The Museo Bodoni is the oldest printing museum in Italy, inaugurated in 1963 on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the death of Giambattista Bodoni, the Piedmontese typographer who made Parma the world capital of printing starting from the second half of the 18th century.

The Museum was established as a Foundation in order to exhibit and enhance the typographic-foundry equipment, the editions, and other relics belonging to Bodoni's workshop to illustrate his work, figure, and collections. It also promotes studies and research in the field of graphic and typographic art. Located in the late sixteenth-century Farnese palace of the Pilotta (which was, at the end of the 18th century, the workshop and residence of Bodoni), the new headquarters of the museum, after the redevelopment of premises of the Palatine Library on the ground floor previously used as warehouses, since November 30, 2022, is connected to the independent entrance of the Palatine and will constitute a unique entity with the Palatine Library, of which it preserves the precious collections.

OPENING HOURS: from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:30 am to 6:30 pm (last entry at 5:45 pm).

For visitors who wish to enter only the Museo Bodoni, the ticket is € 4, while for those who wish to visit both the Pilotta Complex and the Museo Bodoni, there will be the possibility to combine the ticket of the Pilotta Complex (€ 12 full price, € 10 reduced groups, and € 2 for the age group 18-25) with an integrated ticket of € 2.
