Angelo Poliziano
The Stanze of messer Angelo Poliziano published again
Parma, in the royal palace with the Bodonian types, 1792 [but 1797]
The Poliziano edition is part of a larger project by Bodoni to publish editions of the Italian classics in the 1790s (also including Pietro Bembo's rooms, Jacopo Bonfadio's rooms, Giovanni Rucellai's bees and Il Podere by Luigi Tansillo).
The first edition of Poliziano dates back to 1792, when Bodoni printed it in format on real fina paper and on d'Annonay paper, with a dedication, written by Abbot Valperga di Caluso, to Count Cesare Ventura whose coat of arms was represented, published on the occasion of his son's wedding.
The edition visible here is instead probably from 1797 and is a copy printed on double silk. Similar in text content to that of '92, it differs only in the format and size of the characters, and bears the title page with the date 1792, even if the edition certainly seems to have been printed five years later.
