Description of the Feasts celebrated in Parma in the year MDCCLXIX. For the august wedding of His Royal Highness the Infante Don Ferdinando
with the royal Archduchess Maria Amalia
In Parma, in the Royal Printing House, [1769]
Grandiose publication wanted by the Ducal Court of Parma to celebrate the wedding of Don Ferdinand of Bourbon and Maria Amalia of Austria, it contains the description of the main shows set up for the royal wedding. Considered "the most beautiful Italian book by Feste, perhaps one of the most splendid of the century", it sees the fruitful collaboration between Bodoni and the court architect Alexandre Ennemond Petitot. We owe Benigno Bossi the coordination of the complicated enterprise and the numerous artists involved and Petitot the system and the iconographic architecture of the volume, as well as the creation of all the drawings of the illustrations. Bodoni was the artist who managed to skilfully compose the text of the Report, in Italian and French on two symmetrical columns, also experimenting for the first time with the creation of simultaneous emissions on different papers.
