The Castello di Torrechiara is located about 18km from Parma; it was built between 1448 and 1460 by the Magnificent Pier Maria Rossi: the three rings of walls and the four corner towers fully serve the defensive function, but the castle also has a residential purpose proven by the richness of the grotesque frescoes by Cesare Baglione.
The Golden Chamber is extraordinary, attributed to Benedetto Bembo, to celebrate, at the same time, the delicate love story between Pier Maria and Bianca Pellegrini and the power of the lineage through the depiction of all the castles of the fiefdom.
