The archive data does not report useful information for identifying the origin of the two objects, but the punches provide some more information. The Ljubljana provenance, indicated by the punches, however, allows us to formulate some interesting hypotheses: we cannot exclude that the two objects, probably forming part of a larger service, belonged to Giovanni Filippo Cobenzl (Ljubljana, 1741 - Vienna 1810), a character from prominent of the Habsburg Empire and the last exponent of his family, who left a conspicuous inheritance to Michele Coronini Cronberg. The quality of the workmanship is certain, performed in chiseled bands alternating with smooth bands, while the upper part of the lid of the sugar bowl, representing strawberries with relative leaves, was always made with chisel (leaves) with fusion elements (strawberries).
