Museo Nazionale Rossini recounts the life, the man and the greatness of the artist but also the topicality of the work of Gioachino Rossini, an illustrious citizen of Pesaro who gave him birth on February 29, 1792.

Visitors are invited into Rossini's world, narrated as an opera, a musical metaphor of his intense life. A fascinating itinerary, divided into ten rooms, which follows the composer's biographical stages and the boundless operatic production of his career, set from time to time in the historical context, between places and characters (relatives, teachers, impresarios, singers, musicians, politicians , rulers).

The museum is the narration of a long artistic and sentimental journey, one of a kind, compelling, dramatic and full of curious anecdotes; of a life lived as a melodrama that is both serious and comic, painful and amorous, with fiascos and furious successes, straddling revolutions, political restorations, theatres, living rooms, great characters and intellectual upheavals, between the Enlightenment, neoclassicism and romanticism. An epic that crosses the cultural movements of Europe between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries and is perpetuated in the present day.

The protagonist is the great star son of an era that gave birth to the first ante litteram pop star in European musical history: Gioachino Rossini.

The museum hosts events and temporary exhibitions dedicated to music of all times, its history and sound.

The Rossini National Museum is housed on the main floor of Palazzo Montani Antaldi, a prestigious building in the historic centre, and constitutes the spearhead of the great Rossini itinerary of Pesaro, City of Music, which also includes the Rossini Theater, Casa Rossini, Palazzo Mosca – Civic Museums , the Tempietto Rossiniano, Palazzo Olivieri and the Library of the Rossini Foundation (located on the ground floor of the building).
