The BPER Banca Gallery presents in the spaces of its own art gallery in Modena, the exhibition project Psyche in the mirror. Love conquers all, curated by Daniela Ferrari. The exhibition, open to the public from Friday, September 13, 2024 to Sunday, February 9, 2025, opens to the public on the occasion of festivalfilosofia (from September 13 to 15 in Modena, Carpi and Sassuolo), an event of which BPER Banca is the main sponsor, and develops an exploratory path around the theme chosen for this XXIV edition of the festival: psyche.
Psyche in the mirror. Love conquers all aims to be a series of speculations on the nature of feelings through the mirror of myth, demonstrating how ancient storytelling has investigated the entire spectrum of human emotions. The exhibition draws from the heritage preserved in the corporate collection of BPER Banca, particularly rich in works dedicated to myth, presenting paintings by Francesco Albani and workshop, Sisto Badalocchio, Jean Boulanger, Lorenzo De Ferrari, Hendrik Frans Van Lint, Lorenzo Pasinelli, Giovanni Battista Paggi, Guido Reni. The exhibition path also includes prestigious loans such as the etchings and aquatints by Max Klinger, the oils on canvas by François Pascal Simon Gérard and Federico Zandomeneghi, and contemporary artworks created by Andrea Facco, Omar Galliani and Andrea Mastrovito.Playing with words and their multiple meanings, such as mirror, soul, breath, ego, and with the symbols of classical iconography, such as the butterfly, the exhibition develops a polysemic and layered narrative that lends itself to different levels of interpretation, in a journey that crosses epochs and languages of art history.
