From 31 December to 4 May 2025
After the opening of the exhibition "Steve McCurry - Children," a new major painting exhibition arrives in Fermo.
From December 31, 2024, to May 4, 2025, Palazzo dei Priori hosts the exhibition "Renaissance in Fermo", curated by Vittorio Sgarbi with Walter Scotucci. The exhibition focuses particularly on the sixteenth century and allows you to discover the Renaissance period of Fermo's millenary history, which is part of the culture known as the Adriatic Renaissance.
A period not yet fully investigated and for which essential studies on the main protagonists who operated in this area between the last decades of the fifteenth century and the sixteenth century have not been completed: Carlo and Vittore Crivelli, Antonio Solario, Giuliano da Fano, Vincenzo Pagani, Lorenzo Lotto, enriched by the presence in the exhibition of Giulio Romano, Antoniazzo Romano, and many others.
The exhibition at Palazzo dei Priori is a first invitation to research and reconnaissance: one cannot fully understand the importance of the city of Fermo between the late 1400s and throughout the 1500s by considering only the historical, artistic, and architectural heritage currently preserved in the city. It would appear clearer, instead, by reintegrating it with those testimonies that have been lacking over time. For example, the presence of Lorenzo Lotto in Fermo, to be connected with the contemporary presence of the architect Antonio da Sangallo the Younger. As well as the figure of Vincenzo Pagani who assumed the role of absolute protagonist of the sixteenth century in Fermo.
