The museum

The Museo del Tesoro del Duomo winds through a wing of the Archbishop's Palace richly frescoed in the sixteenth century and tells the millennial history of the diocese of Vercelli.

Every six months it offers the review Strolling between the sacred and the profane, a series of cultural events for adults and children dedicated to the discovery of the museum heritage and the book heritage conserved in the adjacent Capitolare Library. The exhibition includes goldsmith's works, liturgical furnishings and fittings, fabrics, paintings mostly from the Cathedral of S. Eusebio. Each work is linked to important moments in the history of Vercelli, not only on a religious level, but also on a social, political and artistic level, for the long period that goes from the third to the twentieth century.

The complexity of the collection makes it possible to propose ordinary and extraordinary events to the various public, often organized in collaboration with city museums, local authorities, national and international universities. In addition to the guided tours and educational workshops ordinarily offered to schools, visits aimed at gaining knowledge of particular periods or aspects, conferences, workshops and laboratories for adults are often organised.

The Museum is also open to new technological frontiers in the field of conservation and study of cultural heritage, often being part of national and international scientific projects.
