The exhibition dedicated to the great international comic, annually proposed in the city of Jesi, has reached the milestone of the fifth edition with the exhibition "STRIPBURGER - Pioneers of independent comics | 33 years on the scene", curated by Katerina Mirović and Alessio Trabacchini, with the coordination of Roberto Gigli together with the project manager Mauro Tarantino. Hosted in the rooms of Palazzo Bisaccioni and scheduled from September 19 to November 23, it is organized in partnership by Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Jesi, Acca - Academy of comics, creativity and visual arts of Jesi and by Stripburger, an international comic magazine based in Slovenia.

The initiative, carried out with the patronage of the Municipality of Jesi and the Slovenian Book Agency JAK - Javna agencija za knjigo RS, although mainly focused on the Slovenian scene, which constitutes the engine of the Stripburger collective, reflects a thirty-year activity: an action that has expanded the boundaries of comics, connected very distant worlds, created spaces of peace always with an iconoclastic and punk approach, but attentive to the movements of contemporary arts, mocking yet very serious in its intentions.

In over thirty years of activity, Stripburger has established itself as one of the most important realities, and certainly the longest-standing, in European research comics and underground. Born in Ljubljana as a transmedia artistic collective, Stripburger has over time increasingly focused on visual storytelling, without ever abandoning its connection with performing arts, from theater to music to audiovisual, and with plastic arts in general. Over the years, it has not only provided space for the variety of the Slovenian scene but has also published some of the great names in international comics, from Lorenzo Mattotti to Anke Feuchtenberger, from Peter Kuper to Aleksandar Zograf, and above all has constituted a sort of bridge between the scenes of Western and Central-Eastern Europe. This was also the case during the darkest years of the Yugoslav wars, continuing to be a meeting place, even when it seemed impossible.

As a consolidated mode of proposal, the exhibition also includes a series of related events to share and expand the particularly rich artistic contents of the initiative, this year also with social and political implications. It starts immediately with the involvement of the Stripburger collective on September 20 and 21, continuing in the months of October and November with school meetings, talks, screenings, and workshops for children and adults carried out in collaboration with local entities such as AccaFotografia and Ratatà festival.
