THIS IS TOMORROW presents contemporary artistic positions in dialogue with significant works of the 20th and 21st centuries in six central collection spaces of the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart. Across different media, the works reflect themes such as the critical view of the body, examine questions of identity and societal coexistence, engage with the relationship between nature and artificial intelligence, and process experiences with war and violence. Through a variety of installations, paintings, media art pieces, sculptures, and paper works, the new collection spaces address topics that stimulate a discourse on current societal issues. Featuring over 100 works by artists such as Eleanor Antin, Marcel Duchamp, Katharina Fritsch, Hannah Höch, Käthe Kollwitz, Jeff Koons, Joseph Kosuth, Maria Lassnig, Yoko Ono, and Andy Warhol, they interact with numerous recent acquisitions and donations – such as works by Norbert Bisky, Burhan Doğançay, Teresa Margolles, Ulrike Ottinger, Cindy Sherman, Hito Steyerl, or Haegue Yang. They are complemented by selected loans such as Clément Cogitore, Simone Leigh, Anys Reimann, Deborah Roberts, and Ben Willikens from the Scharpff-Striebich Collection, the Mercedes-Benz Art Collection, and the Weishaupt Collection.
