CARENISSIMA – The taste of desecration
During the international art week in Turin, Rivoli welcomes "Carenissima - The taste of desecration", an exhibition hosted at the Casa Museo Carena, in the suggestive Dependance, a place of research and experimentation of the "painter of the skies".
The exhibition brings together protagonists who gravitate around his creative universe: former students and artists who over time have taken part in the initiatives of the Casa Museo, united by shared experiences, dialogues, and passions.
On display: Antonella Avataneo, Marzia Ciliberto, Sebastian De Vecchi, Matilde Domestico, Tsvetelina Duhlenska, Silvia Finetti, Sara Forlani, Maria Rosa Frigieri, Maria Rosa Giovenale (Moja), Gennaro Giuliano, Nunzia Lastella, Paola Lucco Borlera, Silvana Maggi, Serafina Marranghino, Roberto Monticone (Roy), Nicoletta Nava, Rosanna Piervittori, Roberto Rolando, Valentina Rossi, Bruno Stizzoli, Greta Stella, Chiara Tripodi, Andrea Quaranta, Amelia Alba Argenziano, Andrea Zanninello, Boris Kolev, Tiziana Berrola.
"Carenissima" is born as a meeting between different generations and sensibilities, in a continuous confrontation with that expressive, ironic, and nonconformist freedom that has characterized the master's journey.
Carena, an ironic and irreverent artist, has built his path by questioning the codes of painting and the conventions of sight, through a personal, playful, and provocative language. An example of this is the famous Cervini, presented in 1971 at the Galleria Il Cavallino in Venice and deliberately exhibited upside down, with the landscape inverted: a simple and radical gesture with which the artist overturns the traditional point of view and invites to look at reality from another perspective. The works, collected under the title "Of fake poetry," are emblematic of that ironic and desecrating freedom that runs through Carena's research.
The same attitude emerges in other emblematic works and titles of his journey, such as "Beautiful as we are only us," "Nausea from video," "Shit for everyone," and "Painting loves me." An irony that becomes a tool to question painting, society, and the way we are used to looking at images.
