In August 1916, driven by the news of the death of his friend Umberto Boccioni, Giacomo Balla draws a graphic silhouette that synthesizes the punch that the friend struck against conservatism, a revolutionary gesture already evoked by Filippo Tommaso Marinetti in the Manifesto of Futurism (1909), as if it were to represent, emblematically, his spirit in action.
