The " pany de miquelet ", key to the rake in Spanish or Micheletta in Italian, is a term to indicate a distinctive Catalan form of the flint key mechanism , originally as a method of igniting steel against stone, which predominated in in the Mediterranean and in Spanish America, from the middle of the 16th century to the beginning of the 19th century.
