Description

These bronze fibulae belong to a characteristic class of the first Calabrian iron particularly well attested in the Sibaritide, certainly one of the main production districts. The circular disc blade arch has a large transverse median rib, detected and adorned with four longitudinal grooves bordered by bundles of three short transverse grooves in correspondence with the engagement of the spring and the bracket, both in rod section. circular; spring with a winding and straight pin, parallel to the arch; small symmetrical and triangular bracket. It has a ribbing and edge of the disc, incomplete, marginal with a thin line engraved in thick zigzag. The types with large oval shielded arch coaxial to the pin, with longitudinal or disc ribs, when found in closed contexts, recur in significant female outfits and are often placed in identical pairs to characterize the set.
