The Giancarlo Ligabue Foundation was established in 2016 to give continuity to the Ligabue Study and Research Center - founded by Giancarlo Ligabue in 1973 - which has promoted and organized over 130 expeditions on all continents, with the collaboration of scientists from the main universities and research centers global research. The discoveries made in the forty years of activity are now part of the history of paleontology, archeology and ethnography.

Given the priceless heritage inherited and inspired by the passion of Giancarlo (who passed away in January 2015), the Foundation has decided to continue the activity of the CSRL with a renewed organizational system and new cultural initiatives. The Giancarlo Ligabue Foundation has among its aims, in fact, that of encouraging the carrying out of cultural and research promotion and dissemination activities through events open to the public, themed exhibitions, conferences, publications, scientific consultancy, restorations, philanthropic donations, both in Italy and abroad.

A journey that continues, a story that adds a new motto to the intellectual adventure that from Venice has extended for decades to all continents: "Knowing and making known".
