The beginning of cultural exchanges between Italy and Japan within the Geibun Association started in 2008, when Dr. Piergiacomo Petrioli traveled to Japan for the first time on the occasion of the Social Education Rinascimento exhibition, set up for the 30th anniversary of the International Year of the Child. In 2009, we organized an art exhibition in Siena, a UNESCO World Heritage city and cradle of the Italian Renaissance, at the Siena Museum in the Palazzo Pubblico (now the Town Hall), followed by two more exhibitions in 2015 and 2019. Dr. Petrioli also evaluated Japanese artworks at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence with his colleague and friend Dr. Daniele Sasson. In 2022, our association organized art sessions and workshops for children, as well as an exhibition at the Elisabetta Possati museum hall, in the heart of Bologna. After over 15 years of artistic exchanges between Italy and Japan, this year saw the establishment of the Italian Association of Japanese Artists. During the inauguration ceremony held in Tokyo, Dr. Petrioli expressed the intention to organize an exhibition of Japanese art in Rome. The exhibition "The Reality of Contemporary Japanese Art in Rome" will take place at the prestigious Venanzo Crocetti Museum in Rome on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of cultural agreements between Italy and Japan. Selected works by Japanese artists who are members of the Italian Association of Japanese Artists, carefully chosen by Dr. Petrioli, will be presented on the theme "Color in Life."
