From October 30, 2024, to February 15, 2025, The Accademia Nazionale di San Luca presents the exhibition Alighiero e Boetti. Doubling and Halving dedicated to one of the artists most visionary and influential of the 20th century, curated by Marco Tirelli and conceived together with Caterina Boetti, president of the Fondazione Alighiero e Boetti.

In commemoration of the thirtieth anniversary of the passing of Alighiero Boetti (Turin, 1940 – Rome, 1994), in the Salone d’Onore, in the Sala bianca, and in the Borrominian portico of Palazzo Carpegna, a selected nucleus of works will be exhibited around the themes of duality and proliferation from the one to the many, characteristic of the artist's research.

The Salone d’Onore, reconfigured for the occasion by an important exhibition structure, will host the Postal Work (From Mouth to Ear), a colossal piece of work, created in 1992-93, a year before the artist's death. Rarely exhibited, the work represents a summa of his previous work that "rebirths" the highest stages of his research. Realized in collaboration with the French Post, Le Magasin – Centre National d’Art Contemporain in Grenoble, and the Musée de la Poste, the composition is divided into 11 series, each consisting of two elements: the envelopes and the drawings (506 stamped and postmarked envelopes and 506 mixed media drawings).

In the Sala bianca (opposite the Salone d’Onore), the famous Gemelli (1968), a photographic photomontage executed by Mario Ponsetti following the artist's instructions; Natural History of Multiplication (1974-1975), a large polyptych consisting of 11 squared papers; Me sunbathing in Turin on January 19, 1969 (1992), an installation in which the artist self-represents alongside a cabbage butterfly, an allusion to the self that transcends bodily limits.

In the Borrominian portico the visitor will be greeted by the bronze Self-Portrait (1993), a work that exemplifies the process of transmutation of matter into spirit, thought, imagination.
