Museum of Ancient Art
The Museum of Ancient Art is located in the halls of the Ducal Court at the Castello Sforzesco in Milan.
The permanent collection of the Museum of Ancient Art includes sculptures and architectural monuments that mark Lombard art from the early Middle Ages to the full Renaissance.
The heritage of the Museum of Ancient Art consists largely of stone materials: statues, architectural members, celebratory and funerary monuments. Except for rare examples, the entire collection comes from buildings and structures built within the circle of the medieval walls of Milan. The Museum retains another peculiar section, the one formed by plaster casts, linked to that phenomenon which experienced a successful revival in the second half of the nineteenth century.
