Located in Piazza Cavour, the Museum of the City of Bettona is housed in the Palazzo del Podestà and in the Palazzo Biancalana. The first was built in 1371 as part of the reconstruction of the city ordered by Cardinal Albornoz, the second, from the nineteenth century, was a neoclassical style noble residence. The collection, linked to local history, includes two distinct sections.
The archaeological section houses the Etruscan and Roman finds that testify to the origins of the territory. Among the most important works, a magnificent marble head of Aphrodite dating back to the middle imperial age. The itinerary continues with the Pinacoteca housed in the noble floor of Palazzo Biancalana and in the fourteenth-century Palazzo del Podestà where, among the numerous paintings, the Madonna della Misericordia by Perugino stands out.
