The Vinciana Collection Authority collects and preserves the bibliographic funds, the photo library and the various collections relating to the work of Leonardo da Vinci , establishing itself as one of the three most important reference points in the world for the study of his figure.
It is located inside the Castello Sforzesco in Milan . In addition to rare publications from the sixteenth century onwards and some manuscripts, the Vinciana Collection preserves all facsimile editions of Leonardo's manuscripts , from the oldest ones, dating back to the second half of the nineteenth century, to the more recent ones, published under the aegis of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei (Rome), of the Royal Vincentian Commission (Rome), of the Institut de France (Paris), of the Vincian National Commission (Rome).
Next to the library we should also mention the photographic archive, which collects numerous and sometimes very rare photographs of works by Leonardo and his circle and their details, or paintings, sculptures and engravings relating to Leonardo's iconography.
