The Mazzucconi Foundation continues to communicate the works of Vittorio Mazzucconi, with the presentation of his books.
After having explored his painting and before dealing with his architecture, we see that these books are consistent with the same interior journey that leads the author to oppose the predominance of materialist reason of our time to reaffirm the values of the spirit.
The books are presented in the following exhibitions, with the related illustrative material, readings and debates by appointment.
1967 1 The City in the image and likeness of man
1985 2 The nascent city
1989 3 The idea of the city
2003 4 The Palatine Pyramid
2007 5 The Ark of Man

THE ARK OF MAN
Editions of the Place of the Waterfall, 2007
The current Piazza del Duomo in Milan is an ugly and enormous space with which a 19th century project replaced the ancient heart of the city, which was smaller and more proportionate, in a correct relationship with the Duomo. However, this project also respected this proportion by envisaging a building which was however not built. The new project therefore envisages the construction of an Ark in its place: an inverted Ark as, apart from the continuity with Mazzucconi's inspiration, it is the façade of the Cathedral itself that suggests its shape with its triangle, which is overthrown in the new Ark. It becomes the symbol of the spiritual opening that our time needs, that which transcends the Cathedral to become in a broader sense the Ark of Man. The project recalls the ancient baptistery in which Saint Ambrose baptized Saint Augustine, in times no less difficult than ours, and brings its ruins to light, together with the layout of the ancient basilica of Santa Tecla.
