From 8 October to 30 October 2022
After the stops in Paris, New York, Dubai, Tunis, Birmingham and Cologne , the international photographic exhibition “ Atlas of Humanity. Exploring cultural diversity ”arrives from 8 to 30 October 2022 in the halls of the Luciana Matalon Foundation.
Curated by Martin Vegas for DeFactory , the exhibition has the admittedly apolitical objective, to map the populations that inhabit our planet through a cultural-anthropological and ethnological reading: through dialogue and comparison, cultural differences between ethnic groups emerge. . UNESCO defines cultural diversity as "a distinctive feature of humanity" and therefore represents "the common heritage of humanity and should be recognized and affirmed for the benefit of present and future generations". Atlas of Humanity was born in line with this thought and translates it into a collection of images and stories from all over the world, documenting the daily life of individuals from every world culture.
The project extends to more than 500 ethnic groups and each photograph focuses on the diversity of the subject and its peculiarities. All the photographers who will be exhibited are united in a common path: to show, without any pretense of completeness, the great wealth of the peoples who inhabit our planet in a unified vision of humanity.
During the day of Saturday 8 October from 5 to 7 pm, Trevor Cole and Alessandro Bergamini will hold a meeting with visitors about their photography and the extraordinary journeys that have brought them into contact with dozens of ethnic groups all over the world.
