Located in the charming Terreiro do Paço, in the heart of Lisbon, the Lisboa Story Centre – Memórias da Cidade is a multimedia museum inaugurated in 2012 that tells the story of the Portuguese capital through an immersive journey of about 60 minutes.
The journey, spread over an area of about 2,200 m², is divided into six thematic areas — from the mythological foundation to the post-earthquake reconstruction of 1755 up to the modern Baixa Pombalina — narrated through scenography, touch screens, sounds, smells, and multilingual audio guides. Among the most striking moments are the immersive reconstruction of the devastating earthquake of November 1, 1755, with realistic sensory effects, and the simulation of life on a caravel during the period of the great Portuguese discoveries.
