From 20 March to 20 March 2025
UNESCO Jewel of world fame, for spring 2025, on March 20th the Royal Palace of Caserta hosts a collective installation of contemporary art and social commitment with "Crash": a site-specific, monumental sculpture of Venus, a symbol of emancipation and gender equality. For the occasion, the Royal Palace of Caserta grants the spaces of the Romanelli Hall, where visitors can enjoy the artwork with the same entrance ticket to the palace.
Curated by Giuseppe Loffredo with ICONIC Art System by artists Angelo Accardi, Luca Bellandi, and Daniele Fortuna, the "Venus", 4 meters high, is a tribute to the "Black Venuses" and a universal manifesto. The Afro hairstyle celebrates the women who have marked the history of the struggle for gender equality. The mouth, covered by a white veil ending on a symbolic apple, echoes the original sin and the stigma imposed on women throughout history.
A contemporary and “six-handed” project, designed to combine traditional and alternative materials, playing with shiny surfaces, transparencies, and reflections to amplify the message. The lacquered white resin by Angelo Accardi, giving a marble-like appearance to the sculpture, is complemented by the painting on plexiglass by Luca Bellandi, reflected by a mirror, in an optical illusion of transformation created by the superimposition of the painting on the drapery of the sculpture. To these is added the wood by Daniele Fortuna, which, with its layered forms and vibrant colors, gives further three-dimensionality to the scene and the installation itself, resting on the scenic carpet by Saints Studio, a fashion house close to the art world: a 10-meter long silk patchwork placed at the feet of Venus to recall the connection between art, fabric, and history.
Closing the installation are a series of works signed by Rocco Ritchie, Alessandro Flaminio, Mimmo Di Dio, Gaetano Di Dio, Marco Grasso, Fabio Abbreccia, Daniele Accossato, and Pedro Perdomo.
“Crash” is the first public presentation of ICONIC Art System, an innovative platform founded by Giuseppe Loffredo that aims for an inclusive artistic dialogue, valuing great artists and supporting emerging ones. Each ICONIC project is designed to bring art closer to society, transforming it into a vehicle for reflection and civil engagement that develops through exhibitions, events, and site-specific installations.
Art is not just expression but concrete action, a means to create lasting cultural and social impact: this is where support for young artists becomes necessary, bringing together an ethic of inclusivity and sustainability. With this spirit, Iconic Art System is born, a network of art galleries promoted by the Loffredo Foundation for the Arts and Inclusion with a dual purpose: creating inclusive artistic spaces and generating resources to support projects, inspired by the concept of contemporary patronage, creating an accessible cultural ecosystem where art becomes a collective experience and a tool for social change.
