The Kunstverein Braunschweig is an exhibition space and association of Braunschweig committed to the dissemination of contemporary art through the realization of temporary exhibitions and events. Founded in 1832, it is based in the Villa Salve Hospes, an ancient residence of a merchant, built in the neoclassical style at the beginning of the 19th century. The Kunstverein Braunschweig has become one of the most internationally recognized art associations in Germany. Its program includes six to nine solo or group exhibitions and other projects each year, highlighting significant developments in international contemporary art. At the heart of the Kunstverein concept is the promotion of emerging artists against the backdrop of contemporary artistic and socio-political discourses. Committed to improving the perception and appreciation of contemporary art, the association actively engages the public with a series of guided tours, workshops, artist lectures and publications.
