The Braunschweigisches Landesmuseum is a museum in Braunschweig dedicated to the history of the city. Founded in 1891 as the municipal patriotic museum for the national history of Braunschweig, the BLM documents the history of the Duchy of Braunschweig and the Free State of Braunschweig from prehistoric and protohistoric origins to the present day. The Braunschweigisches Landesmuseum consists of several locations. The headquarters, the Vieweghaus, is located in the main square of the city, in a classicist building built at the beginning of the 19th century. This venue keeps most of the collection and hosts temporary exhibitions. Eight different thematic rooms focus on the fundamental periods for the city of Braunschweig. There are everyday objects from different eras, models, documents, clothes, furniture and weapons.
