Guido Sacerdoti
Portrait of Lucia, late seventies, acrylic on canvas, 60×40 cm
A doctor, but a multifaceted intellectual, born in Naples in 1944. He was the first Jewish child born after the war, circumcised by rabbis of the allied fleet anchored in the gulf. He received a solid education in various fields and in the field of painting he had the support of his uncle Carlo Levi. His works follow the post-impressionist current and mostly depict portraits, often of friends, and landscapes, but they have rarely been exhibited. In the early 60s, he was the leader of the Neapolitan section of the non-partisan youth movement Nuova Resistenza. A member of the Carlo Levi Foundation since the 80s, he was its president from 2004 to 2013, the year of his death.
His two paintings depict the two children of Maurizio Valenzi, Lucia and Marco. In 2014, about a year after his death, an exhibition of his paintings "Painting as Life" was set up at the headquarters of the Valenzi Foundation.
