He was born in Tunis in 1909 to parents of Sicilian origin, where he attended the School of Fine Arts. In 1929, he moved to Italy and between '30 and '31 he opened a studio in Rome with Maurizio Valenzi, whom he had met in Tunis during his formative years. He later moved to Paris where he encountered the great post-impressionist schools. In 1939, he exhibited in Milan where he came into contact with proponents of abstractionism such as Fontana, Reggiani, and Soldati. During these years, Corpora alternated between figurative painting and abstract experiments. In '48, he was in Rome with Guttuso, with whom he founded the "New Front of the Arts." Starting from the '50s, Corpora gradually abandoned cubist geometries, engaging in dialogue with European informal art, reaching a great expressive freedom in the '60s when color predominated, applied in overlapping veils to suggest a sense of depth. He passed away in Rome in 2004.
