The Ethnological Museum of Valencia was founded in 1982 and is located in the La Beneficència Cultural Center. The collection is exhibited in a permanent exhibition and is organized in five parts that tell the relationship between people and the environment in which they operate: the city, the orchard, the swamp, the mainland and the mountains. In all these areas, objects and contents are presented in relation to certain axes: living (the domestic space), living together (the spaces for meeting) and working (the workplace).
The Museum also aims to describe asepts of different cultures from all parts of the world. In order to promote this idea of interculturality, it organizes activity programs such as Ethnomúsica, Etnocuina, Etnocinema, educational workshops or the fair of local museums (Etnopobles).
The Ethnological Museum also carries out research programs on ethnological heritage and offers the services of a specialized library and collaborates with numerous municipalities in the recovery and dissemination of local heritage.
