The Museum of Fine Arts of Valencia is one of the most important art galleries in Spain. The building, housed in the palace of San Pio V, houses about 2,000 works.
Among the paintings in the collection, most of which date back to the 14th and 15th centuries, the Self-portrait by Diego Velázquez and the Madonna with the Writing Child and a kneeling bishop by Pinturicchio are the only works of the Italian artist exhibited in Spain. The museum also has a section dedicated to sculpture, one to contemporary art and one to archeology.
