The grand exhibition "FORM AND COLOR - From Picasso to Warhol - the Ceramics of the Great Masters" is scheduled to open on February 14, 2025, at the exhibition space of the Oratory of San Filippo Neri, Galleria Sottana, located at Via Maria Vittoria 5, Turin.

The exhibition gathers the works of some of the most important figures in the international art scene who have experimented with ceramics, terracotta, and porcelain.

The works will highlight both the creation of original forms and sculptures, as well as the decoration of existing objects such as plates, trays, carafes, and vases, which effectively become the canvas or support to unleash the artists' imagination.

In the exhibition, Picasso's plates and jugs will narrate his discovery of the Madoura workshops and the "coupe de foudre" of the great master for Jacqueline Roque, his last companion, projecting us on a journey through 20th and 21st-century art with the greatest masters.

A journey through materials and techniques, from ceramics to porcelain, to the use of terracotta with works by artists such as Julio Le Parc, Yayoi Kusama, Sonia Delaunay, George Baselitz, Gigi Chessa, Louise Bourgeois, Salvador Dalì, Andy Warhol, featuring delightful tiles made for Rosenthal, leading up to Jean Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, and culminating in the irreverence of Maurizio Catelan.

Over 70 artists and more than 100 works will help us understand diverse worlds and cultures, from Europe to the United States, from Latin American countries to Eastern experiences including Japan and China.

Among them, the renowned Ai Weiwei, present here with the sunflower seeds exhibited at the Tate Modern in London. Alongside him, some of the most important personalities in contemporary Chinese art, such as Pan Lusheng, Ma Yuan, Zhang Hongmei, or Xu De Qi, who, as children of the new era, find their inspiration in the officialdom of a rapidly expanding country.

Organized by AICS Turin in co-production with Art Book Web and in collaboration with Congregatio Oratorii Taurinensi.
