From February 19, 2027, and during the renovation phase of the Staatsgalerie until approximately 2034, the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart will present its outstanding 20th-century collection at the Kunstgebäude am Schlossplatz. 

A strictly chronological interim presentation, organized by decades, allows paintings and sculptures to meet in this form for the first time. This enables new perspectives on our world-famous works of Classical Modernism. The special premises of the Kunstgebäude are transformed into "time capsules" where the audience can experience highlights of the decades from 1900 to 1970 like a journey through time.  

The presentation at the Kunstgebäude vividly illustrates connections between historical events and artistic works, placing historical events in the context of current issues. Aspects of provenance research, the collection history of the Staatsgalerie, or the lack of female positions in our collection are openly discussed.

The audience can look forward to our masterpieces! "Simply the Best!" by Picasso, Beckmann, Schlemmer, Modersohn-Becker, Rothko, Warhol, Lassnig, Modigliani, and many others.

Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Street Scene (Friedrichstrasse Berlin), 1914, Staatsgalerie Stuttgart, acquired 1953
