closed Take Care Project

The show

Take Care Project, a project that began in 2020 in the midst of a pandemic and has now reached its first exhibition stage with the presentation of the 160 masks produced by the artists who signed up for the invitation. At the same time, the two personal exhibitions of the winners of the competition will be presented: Iaia Filiberti and Roberto Maria Lino, ex-aequo winners.

The Take Care Project aims to be a metaphor of our times of which it highlights some characterizing elements: the mask, the object on which the artists worked - a blank sheet to write their experience in a time of pandemic. Taking care through the invitation in a cascade system. The democratic element of participation where every artist or curator was free to invite whoever he felt was. The vote, which took place via internet on the foundation website 107, which highlighted the power of social media and the individual communicative strength of each artist participating in the project.

Take Care, take care, is the watchword and the teaching that should have remained imprinted on our skin after the first waves of the pandemic, the Asian epidemic that swept our lives and started a new era. Taking care of others, of those who are weaker and have more need in a society that for too long has exalted individual well-being at the expense of a healthy principle of community.

Covid19 has transformed our lives, shifted the balance of economic power between nations and continents, increased divergences between social classes, created a gap between protected and non-protected workers, changed our vision of the world and beyond above all, it has taken away our security and freedom, making us feel how fragile we are.

The pandemic has inoculated in us a dangerous poison that is mistrust towards our fellow men, it has canceled the typically Western gesture of shaking hands, hugging, weaving relationships, exploring other worlds. It has isolated us in a cocoon to which access is forbidden, amplifying the marginalized condition of a path to which technological means had already started us.

In the 160 masks exhibited, the artists expressed mixed feelings: those who transformed the mask into an ex-voto, those in the desire for a meadow, those in a sculpture impossible to wear, those in a written message, those in a meeting between peoples, some in a barrier of thorns, some in a form of protest and some in a hammock ready to rock you.
