The exhibition Other traces by the Cagliari photographer Cédric Dasesson tells - through the orderly seriality of images of various formats - the story of Sardinia and its people, the slow process of adaptation of man and nature in a place and space where the slow passage of time is measured by a series of intervals readable as lines of rupture, elements of change and transformation.

Starting from the traces of remote anthropizations scattered throughout the island by the Sardinian people, characterized in the collective imagination as identity markers - dolmens, menhirs, tafoni and fraicate basins, domus de janas, nuraghi, temples, dry stone walls and pinewoods - the author tells with images a temporally varied and complex process, clear and objective evidence of the continuous forms of adaptation of man to the inevitable transformations of the territory.

Dasesson focuses his gaze on the transition from a nomadic way of life to a settled, stable, permanent one, one that leaves recognizable traces of anthropization, of "domestication" in places. Within these processes of adaptation, the rock is an almost constant presence, a symbol of strength, resistance and hostility but also refuge, home, space for community aggregation, as in places of worship.

Dasesson's photographic research explores the connections between elements, often flattened by a stereotyped reading, that characterize the fundamental traits of the people and gathers the fundamental notions, offering a direct association between place and its use. Places thus become large containers of information, traditions, mythological stories imprinted in the rock and partly still to be discovered. The process of adaptation reveals its nature as a motive for survival, a symbol of targeted life choices in total symbiosis with the territory, a symbol of stubbornness and perseverance in the will to live conditions often dictated by nature.
