From 17 May to 2 November 2025
The exhibition "The Power of Color: Roberto Capucci at Villa Pisani" is an extraordinary event, designed to pay tribute to the career of Roberto Capucci, one of the most famous and innovative Italian fashion designers, who has profoundly influenced the evolution of fashion. The exhibition, which includes twenty dresses, around seventy drawings, sketches, and vintage photographs, explores the combination of his artistic vision and the historical spaces of Villa Pisani, transforming the entire exhibition path into a unique sensory experience.
By combining fashion with history, the exhibition highlights the incredible connection between his sculptural creations and the highly evocative environments of the monumental residence founded by the Pisani family in the first half of the 18th century. Thus begins a new, unpredictable, and suggestive dialogue that captures attention starting from the element that perhaps more than others has always characterized Capucci's creations: color.
Capucci's works, which go beyond the traditional concept of clothing, are true wearable sculptures. Each of his creations is conceived as a three-dimensional work of art, with complex lines, volumes, and structures that stand out as true "living sculptures" or "sculptures in motion." These masterpieces not only showcase Capucci's skill and ingenuity but also become vehicles of emotions.
The introduction of these unique pieces into the rooms of Villa Pisani marks an exceptional encounter: the Villa's environments with their aesthetic charge become the ideal context to welcome Capucci's creations, in a perfect blend that merges the elegance of fashion with the monumentality of historical spaces, in a surprising synthesis. The exhibition thus represents a dual opportunity. On one hand, it offers the chance to immerse oneself in the creative universe of Roberto Capucci, one of the pioneers of contemporary fashion, who has transformed clothing from a simple garment into a true work of art. On the other hand, it invites visitors to discover and appreciate the historical beauty of Villa Pisani from new perspectives. Through this exhibition, the Villa's environments are somewhat reshaped by Capucci's sculptures, true generators of space and chromatic dynamism capable of harmoniously merging with the Pisani's decorations and architectures.
Each dress becomes a structure that rises, expands, and molds, just like a building growing in space, interacting with its lines, its light, and its volumes. The presence of the dresses in the historical rooms suggests a vision of fusion between movement and stillness, between the dynamism of fashion and the solidity of architecture. In this scenario, the interaction between sartorial masterpieces and historical spaces opens a reflection on the nature of beauty and its evolution. Capucci's art, playing with sculptural forms and bold geometries, becomes a bridge between past and present, demonstrating that fashion is not just a trend but a fundamental form of artistic and cultural expression.
The starting point of this dialogue is Capucci's wedding dress inspired by Tiepolo's colors; along with a procession of four other pieces, it will be placed in the heart of the grand Ballroom, under the extraordinary frescoed ceiling of one of the greatest masterpieces of the airy and luminous painting of the 18th century: the Apotheosis of the Pisani Family, the pinnacle of Giambattista Tiepolo's ceiling painting. This dress will be the focus of an exhibition path articulated between the ground floor and the noble floor of the Stra museum complex.
The three exhibition rooms on the ground floor will offer three important focuses dedicated to color in Capucci's work, while in the south and north antechambers of the noble floor - almost a counterpoint to the procession of dresses in the Tiepolo Hall - a selection of the master's drawings and archival photographic material will allow a glimpse into the creative process of the great designer.
