The Mart - Museum of modern and contemporary art of Trento and Rovereto was born in 1987 as a functional body of the Autonomous Province of Trento and operates in three distinct places: in Rovereto the main seat of the Museum - a large architectural complex inaugurated in 2002 on a project by Mario Botta and Giulio Andreolli - and the Depero Futurist Art House , the Civic Gallery in Trento. The latter became part of the Mart, inaugurating its spaces in the historic center of Trento, in October 2013.Conceived as a cultural center, the Martè venue for exhibitions, events, educational proposals and research activities, preserving a heritage of about 20,000 works. The Collections and temporary exhibitions span 150 years of art history: from the first decades of the nineteenth century to Futurism, from Metaphysics to the Italian Twentieth Century, from Arte Povera to Conceptual Art, up to contemporary experimentation.
