From October 23, 2024 to January 12, 2025, the Museo Nazionale Romano - Palazzo Massimo hosts the exhibition dedicated to the artist Massimiliano Pelletti. The exhibition project, entitled Versus curated by the museum director Stéphane Verger, is a site-specific operation, where the works created by Pelletti, all unpublished, interact with the permanent collection of ancient sculpture. Promoted by the Ministry of Culture, by the Department for Cultural Enhancement, by the Italian Museums, and by the President of the Cultural Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, the exhibition is realized in collaboration with the Galleria Barbara Paci, which, together with the artist, curated the conception and organization. "Versus" by Massimiliano Pelletti The exhibition tells the dialogue of confrontation between the works - those of the museum collection and those created ex novo - which is fueled by a reflection on the dialectic action inaction, coercion to activity contemplation. A meditation on human nature and our time, in which short-term actions that guarantee a quick, immediate result are privileged. In the collection of Palazzo Massimo, Pelletti has selected a series of works by recovering classical models and proposing them with unusual and rare natural materials, used for the first time in sculpture, to then create a new series of sculptures that offer the observer a counterpart, a contemplative specular dimension or alterations that stimulate a potential alternative narrative in the observer.
