From 12 November to 3 January 2026
Exhibition promoted by the Department of Culture of Rome Capital and Special Company Palaexpo Created by Special Company Palaexpo
The exhibition brings together the works created by Otello Scatolini (Rome, 1964) over a period of about fifteen years, united by one of the main guiding threads of his research, carried out between drawing, painting, and sculpture: the harmony of the title, which the artist has been seeking for some years also through a meditative practice, finds fulfillment both in the forms and in the techniques used, seeking a harmonious balance between marble, resin, colors, and different materials, giving monumental sculpture the lightness of water. The subtitle of the exhibition explains this dualism, represented by the large sculpture Androgynous, a new Vitruvian being launched in the 21st century and culminating in the Cosmic Egg, synthesis of the magical, creative, and healing gesture of art.
Among the many works on display, a large space is dedicated to the large canvases bearing a whispered and almost unintelligible script that is also found in some sculptures (Shouts and Whispers, 2010; Murmur, 2010): cast in lead and gold, a reference to alchemical sublimation, the writing becomes a mantra and suggests to the visitor silence and thought, in opposition to the dominant shouts and superficiality.
The same design phase is for Otello Scatolini a phase of silence and thought that transforms into guiding words and signs, then into drawing and finally into sculpted work: two rooms of the exhibition are dedicated to the restitution and sharing of this original experience, allowing visitors to virtually immerse themselves in the artist's studio through the use of 3D viewers. An immersive experience of the creative act in the presence of the artist, who on various occasions will guide the public through all the phases of his work, recounting its genesis, the material act, and the final meaning.
