From 21 November to 10 December 2023 MAXXI and Fondazione In Between Art Film present in the Museum's video gallery No Master Territories: Feminist Worldmaking and the Moving Image ("Territories without master": Creating feminist worlds and moving images), an adaptation of the important exhibition of the same name held at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin, in summer 2022.

In Between Art Film Foundation invited the curators of the exhibition, Erika Balsom and Hila Peleg, to choose three thematic areas of the exhibition and to present three screening programs – one per week – which include a selection of 19 non-fiction films and videos made between the Seventies and Nineties, most of which have never been exhibited in Italy, and propose new languages to represent the gender experience. Focusing on the period in which women's liberation movements established themselves internationally, the exhibition pays homage to the important work carried out in the past by artists, directors and collectives from all over the world to respond to urgencies that are still relevant today.

The program will be enriched by a conversation between Erika Balsom and Ilaria Gianni, respectively co-curator of the exhibition and professor in Film Studies at King's College London, and independent curator, writer and teacher, on Friday 24 November 2023 at 6 pm at the Videogallery of MAXXI. The conversation will take place in English.

The exhibition is part of the agreement that has seen MAXXI and Fondazione In Between Art Film together since 2017 for the promotion of the culture of moving images and the support of artists who explore the dialogue between different disciplines and time-based media. A commitment that is expressed through screenings and meetings in the Museum's Video Gallery and with the acquisition of film and video works that are donated to the MAXXI Collection.
