This morning, a historical-documentary exhibition entitled "The Wonder of Time. La Girandola and the art of pyrotechnics at Castel Sant'Angelo" was presented in preview at Castel Sant'Angelo. After the preview visit to the authorities and the press, the exhibition remained accessible to the public, who can visit it until September 29, 2024.
Conceived by Dr. Eva M. Antulov with the historical-scientific consultancy of architect Giuseppe Passeri, the exhibition was organized by the Pantheon and Castel Sant'Angelo Institute - National Museums Directorate of the city of Rome and benefits from the scientific committee chaired by Prof. Claudio Strinati, and also composed of Prof. Michele Rak and Dr. Sandro Bari. It takes place under the auspices of the Presidency of the VII Permanent Commission of the Chamber of Deputies - Culture, Science, and
Education and is supported by Enel Italia.
Speakers included: the General Director of Museums, Prof. Massimo Osanna, the President of the VII Culture, Science, and Education Commission at the Chamber, Hon. Federico Mollicone, the Head of Institutional Affairs Tirrenica Adriatica Enel, Dr. Cristiana Di Torrice, Prof. Claudio Strinati, art historian, former Superintendent for the Roman Museum District, Dr. Eva M. Antulov of the IX Invicta Group and architect Giuseppe Passeri, of the IX Invicta Group, creator of the Historical
Reenactment of the Girandola.
The exhibition aims to reconstruct the tradition of the Girandola, one of the most spectacular festivals that took place in Rome as early as the 15th century, recurring on various occasions, with the most famous being June 29, the day dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul, patrons of the city. The journey unfolds among paintings, prints, manuscripts, and fireworks machines, in a voyage that reaches our days, with a bridge thrown to the future.
