From 16 December to 18 February 2024
Forty-two photographs and three photographic collages tell the story of Garbatella: the architectural virtues and the stories of the people who, with their dedication, changed the face of this characteristic Roman neighborhood.
The photographic exhibition is the result of a multi-year photographic project created by Zhanna Stankovych , Ukrainian classical composer and pianist, writer and photographer by passion, resident in Rome for 25 years.
The theme of the project focuses on the peculiarity of the Garbatella neighborhood , with particular emphasis on human warmth and its popular spirit, despite its proximity to the majestic and lively historic center of the capital.
Through the photographs displayed in the exhibition, Zhanna Stankovych invites us to reflect on the influence of a single human path on the lives of other people , when love for the place where one lives leads to creating something that did not exist before. The photographs immortalize the example of three apparently ordinary people, very different and unknown to each other, but linked by a solid thread, who, armed with humility and patience, changed the face of a neighborhood for the better.
The exhibition is aimed at Roman and non-Roman visitors, largely accustomed to the images of an ancient and sumptuous Rome: it offers them the discovery of a reality located a stone's throw from the host Museum but unknown to many.
